The GWU section confirmed the union’s concern that the eco-tax will put excess pressure on workers and pensioners. Young workers make up a substantial part of the labour force and are already burdened by the income tax and VAT.

Now that the eco-tax has been added, working youths are going to be put in a situation that keeps getting worse, since they will be paying tax on essential domestic products.

The GWU Youths also appealed to the government so that additional burdens on the workers will be carried by operators instead.
