EU health ministers will exchange ideas and views on the relationship between health care systems and ageing. This is being done in the light of EU member states’ concern about the financial sustainability and the efficiency of their national health care systems.
Many EU member states find themselves faced with the
collective challenge of finding ways to deal with issues like the proportional increase of the
ageing population, the emergence of new and expensive medical innovations, and citizens’ growing expectations concerning the quality and availability of, and service provision by health care providers.
