Speaking at the launch of a training course in family therapy and applied systemic theory, organised by Appogg, the minister explained that through these courses, the organisation is providing professionals with an interesting understanding of the dynamics of individuals, couples and families.

Appogg has been organising training courses for the past eight years, in collaboration with Tavistock Clinic UK.

This time, Appogg is offering training in applied systemic theory at introductory and intermediate levels as well as an advanced course in clinical family therapy training.

At the launch, Appogg chief executive officer Joe Gerada explained that the organisation is committed to provide quality training to professionals in this field.

These training courses not only serve as professional development for the participants, but also act as fora for the sharing of ideas, he said.

Set up in 1995, the family

therapy service has provided therapeutic sessions to an

average of 240 families per year.

Typically, clients are families worried about their children’s behaviour, families going through separations or marital breakdowns or those facing other traumatic experiences.

Professionals who cannot take on the commitment of formal training are invited to attend the public seminars offered by a Tavistock consultant over the academic year.
