The staff at PBS, long used to anything and everything, have quipped that the selection process will be a cross between Saranno Famosi and Le Veline since it seems that most based their credentials on their looks and figure.

Some have even been heard asking what a CV means and how they could get one.

Equally in a comic vein, when PBS came to broadcast the Malta-Sweden game last Saturday it was suddenly discovered that the OB Unit van had not been VRT-ed and its licence renewed. This had to be done hurriedly just in time to catch the game.

On a more serious note, staff at PBS have claimed that the cameramen hired from Popcorn, a media company, to record the Sweden game, were hired at more than Lm3 an hour, which is more than the Lm1.85 the usual cameramen get for such work.

And while senior officials have been housed in a luxury hotel in Amsterdam when they were there to attend a conference, a cameraman who was sent for a coverage in the US for a month lost many of what are considered to be normal “allowances”.
