In a letter addressed to One Productions chairman Renald Dalli, PN information director Gordon Pisani said that Super 1 yet again unjustly warped passages from a speech the Prime Minister gave at a political activity on Sunday.

The news item gave the impression that the Prime Minister was indifferent to the people’s complaints, the letter said. The news bulletin omitted a sentence in which Dr Gonzi qualified that he was speaking about the complaints of Super 1 TV.

Dr Gonzi had said: “Qed nirreferi ghal Super 1” (I am referring to Super one), when speaking of a strategy of complaints. Instead, Mr Pisani said, the Super 1 reporter claimed that Dr Gonzi was referring to the people. “This shows a lack of professionalism on behalf of the Labour media which seems to be ready to deceive its viewers and

readers.”

The omission was made purposefully and was clearly not a mistake. The station was given the opportunity to tape the whole discussion and therefore Super 1 had the phrase it decided not to air, he said. The reporter assigned to the discussion also failed to mention a number of comments made about projects that the government had undertaken.
