Judging by the way the two have been at each other’s throats over the past few days, it should be a hot topic indeed.

The organising committee has changed the regulations to allow foreign writers and composers to submit their songs for the Malta festival, an idea that has angered the local union which has threatened to boycott the festival.

Both are insisting on their position, with the organising committee saying it does not recognise the union and the union replying that this is just a weak ploy to divert the discussion from what really matters.

The union has also warned composers, singers, authors and other involved parties who do not support it that it will make life difficult for them.

The subject will be discussed by Maltasong head Grace Borg, UKAM president John Vassallo, Philip Vella, Fleur Balzan, Ivan Grech (the Winter Moods singer who became famous without Eurovision), Aldo Busuttil (a singer in disagreement with UKAM) and Steve Aquilina (who also disagrees with UKAM).
