Keith Caruana, 26, was found not guilty of attempted murder but guilty of slightly injuring a man during the fight. David Calleja, 39 and Anthony Portelli, 30, were also found guilty of slightly injuring other men. The fourth accused, Godwin Vella, 41, was cleared of the charge of seriously injuring a man during the fight.
Caruana’s parents took the witness stand as defence witnesses and explained that following a traffic accident a few years ago their son had suffered from a 35 to 40 per cent disability.
They also said that they have another son who is in a wheelchair following another traffic accident.
Mr Justice Galea Debono adjourned the case until this morning, when he is expected to hand down his judgement against the three men.
Dr Martin Fenech, Dr Edward Gatt and Dr Anglu Farrugia appeared for the accused.
