Among others, Mr Micallef met Socialist Group leader Martin Schulz. The two
discussed the European Constitution and Mr Schulz accepted that, until the MLP takes a stand on the issue, the three Labour MEPs will be exempt from expressing their opinion on the matter.
Mr Schulz praised the work of the Labour MEPs, saying that although they come from a small country, their contribution to proceedings in the Socialist Group had left their mark.
The meeting was attended by the MLP’s international secretary Joe Mifsud, Labour MP Charles Buhagiar and former ambassador Vince Camilleri.
Mr Micallef also met the three Labour MEPs, John Attard Montalto, Louis Grech and Joseph Muscat.
