In a statement, Maltapost said that this is because complaints raised by the General Workers’ Union on behalf of some of their members are of a collective nature and have a direct effect on company operations.
These complaints were already being discussed between the company and the UHM, which is the officially recognised union according to the collective agreement.
In the circumstances, Maltapost has referred the issue to the Director of Labour, and a meeting has been called for today.
Maltapost apologises to the public for any inconvenience caused by the industrial action.
