Tuesday 7 December shall go down in local music history as the night of the first edition of the Bay Music Awards.

Organised by Malta’s number one music station – 89.7 Bay, the BMA’s celebrated the island’s rapidly growing music culture with an awards ceremony that was larger than life.

The Eden Arena was brimming with thousands of people and hosted an incredible concert that featured a stellar assembly of Malta’s biggest musical names.

The performers included acts such as Corkskrew, Scar, IQ, Leftplay, Toby, 8 Ugly, Indigo, and Ivan Filletti.

Throughout the night 89.7 Bay DJs announced the winners of the BMA’s and presented the awards to the successful nominees.

These were Niki Gravino for ‘Best Newcomer’, Ira Losco for ‘Best Solo Artist’ and Bitterside for ‘Best Band’, while the award for ‘Best Single’ was given to Dripht for their addictive Summer hit Mark Barnsley.

The prestigious ‘Icon Award’ was presented to rock giants Winter Moods for their influential work throughout the past few years.

All the winners also wowed the crowds with a performance on the night.

After the awards concluded however, the show was far from over.

The night rapidly evolved into a gargantuan party as 89.7 Bay’s Ruby and J Joy hit the decks and confronted each other in a DJ duel.

The event was thus concluded with the entire Arena pumping away to the sounds of these two club greats going at it head to head for the first time ever.
