A man was robbed early yesterday morning as he was leaving his house with a briefcase containing money, cheques and other documents.

The incident took place at 7.45am when the 49-year-old businessman from Bugibba was leaving his house in Julius Street. At one point, three hooded and armed men, who arrived at the scene in a white Nissan van, pointed their weapons in his direction and ordered him to hand over his briefcase. A fourth person was waiting in the van, which they used as their getaway vehicle.

The man handed over the briefcase and the hooded men fled the scene. No one was injured.

Magistrate Michael Mallia was informed about the case and appointed several court experts to assist him with the magisterial inquiry. Qawra district police are also carrying out investigations.
