The weapon with which Simon Grech was allegedly stabbed to death last month had still not been recovered yesterday, despite the fact that officers from the homicide squad and the Civil Protection Department have been searching since Wednesday.
The search started two days ago, following a tip-off received by the police that the weapon involved in this case could be found in a reservoir in Dahlet il-President Anton Buttigieg Street in Zejtun.
It took some 28 hours to pump all the water out of the reservoir and yesterday the more delicate process of extracting the mud took place. However, no weapon had been discovered by the evening.
Twenty-year-old Simon Grech was found dead on 13 April in a field at Marsa. It is believed that he was killed a week before, on 7 April, when he had been reported missing.
