Malta Independent Saturday, 21 May 2005, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

The Civil Protection Department will today open their stations in Hal Far to receive donations in order to assist Romania, which has been hit by floods.

In a statement, CPD director Peter Cordina said the floods have had a drastic effect on the country and several houses, schools and hospitals have been adversely affected. He said the European Commission has issued a call for help from EU member states to assist Romania and its people.

It has been decided that Malta will send in disinfectants such as Dettol, Rexoguard and Hygene, and detergents. The CPD will therefore be receiving these products between 8am and 5pm today. Cash donations will not be accepted. Further information is available on 2146-2610.
