The Malta women's team and the whole basketball clan rejoiced last night as the team finally found their winning form to beat home side Andorra to assure themselves of the bronze medal.
The Maltese lasses stamped their authority on the match right from the start and never relinquished their hold as they demolished their opponents despite the hostile reception by the local fans.
Frank Camilleri, general secretary of the Association, said the team was satisfied that they had won the bronze medal in the circumstances. It was the team's third consecutive medal in these Games.
Josephine Grima and Sandra Schembri Wismeyer were Malta’s best scorers with 20 and 12 points respectively.
