Malta Independent Friday, 24 February 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

HSBC’s branch in St Andrew’s is the latest one to re-open following refurbishment.

The new branch offers the full range of HSBC services to the more than 9,000 residents of the area. These include normal cash transactions, financial planning and investments services as well as loan facilities.

“We live in a world of technology with many banking services being offered through internet, mobile phones and call centres. Despite this, branches remain essential both for the bank and for its customers to conduct business together. Since arriving in Malta, HSBC has invested nearly Lm10 million in upgrading its branch network, highlighting the importance which the bank places on providing the right environment for customers who want a more personal service,” said HSBC chief executive officer, Mr Shaun Wallis.

Also present for the branch opening were HSBC Sliema area director Lorna Farrugia and St Andrew’s branch manager, Marika Debono. Ms Farrugia explained that the St Andrew’s branch offers a full banking service to residents not only of St Andrew’s but also of Pembroke, Swieqi, l-Ibragg and Madliena, making it an essential service point for HSBC.
