Bulgarian Tenor Kaludi Kaludow will perform famous opera arias and classical Italian songs in a Concert for Europe by the “Sliema” Band on Saturday 25 March at the Sir Temi Zammit Auditorium at the University of Malta, Msida, at 7pm.
In this vocal and musical celebrity concert for Europe, the “Sliema” Band under the direction of Mro Ronnie Debattista, will perform together with Kaludi Kaludow famous arias from Aida, Il Trovatore, and Tosca, together with classical Italian Songs like Maria, Mari, Musica Proibita and O surdato nnamurato.
To mark the occasion of the 125th anniversary since the arrival in Sliema of the statue of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Kaludi will sing G Caccini’s Ave Maria specially arranged by Ronnie Debattista.
The programme also includes the first performance of Vivaldi’s concert for two trumpets to be performed by Sigmund Mifsud and Joseph Chircop; a selection from the musical West Side Story by Leonard Bernstein; a solo for flute Piccaroon Polka to be performed by Silvio Zammit, and other well known songs like Granada, Nessun dorma from Turandot and Mario Del Monaco’s landmark song Un amore così grande.
The concert will be concluded with Cardenio Botti’s ‘Sliema’ Hymn and Beethoven’s Ode to Joy.
