An Msida man was yesterday jailed for four months after pleading guilty to assaulting and slightly injuring a police officer.

Vincent Brincat, 48, pleaded guilty to assaulting police constable George Buhagiar and slightly injuring him on 31 July 2005 at 6pm in Santa Venera. He also admitted using vulgar language in public, breaching the peace and relapsing in view of previous convictions. The court, presided over by magistrate Miriam Hayman, jailed the accused for four months.

Police inspector Mario Bonello prosecuted while Dr Daniela Mangion appeared for the defence.
