Malta Independent Friday, 17 March 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

Nature Trust Malta, the environmental NGO, is facilitating a Euromed youth exchange between tomorrow and 25 March.

The exchange will bring together 40 participants from environmental NGOs from eight EuroMediterranean countries: Denmark, Poland, Israel, Spain, Tunisia, Algeria, Turkey and Malta. The activities are possible with the financial support of the Euromed Youth Programme of the European Commission.

This project aims to share experiences about the impacts of tourism, to foster a youth culture and activism in favour of a more sustainable and environmentally friendly tourism industry thus widening the international cooperation on the field of sustainable tourism among youth organisations.

During the exchange the environmentalists will visit sites of ecological and historical value and areas of tourism development. Discussions will involve national and regional communities and different institutions related to tourism in the Maltese Islands.
