A Siggiewi man was yesterday conditionally discharged for a one-year period after being found guilty of assaulting and injuring a warden.

Alexander Vella, 34, was found guilty of assaulting and slightly injuring warden Daniel Briffa on 9 March 2002 in Sliema.

He was also found guilty of impeding a public official from carrying out his duties and causing between Lm50 and Lm500 in damage to the warden’s equipment.

The court, presided over by magistrate Abigail Lofaro, heard how Vella attacked the warden after he had booked him. Police inspector Frans Micallef prosecuted.
