The legendary musician Sting, who has an immense international following, will be in Malta for a large open-air concert that will be held at the Luxol Grounds in St Andrew’s on 6 June.

Speaking at a press conference at the Hilton Hotel in St Julian’s, NnG director Nigel Camilleri explained that a long series of negotiations had finally produced what all Malta had been waiting for – the former front man of the band The Police has included Malta in his ‘Broken Music’ Tour.

Sting is well known for a quite a few songs he wrote both with The Police and as a solo artist. Among the group’s hits some of the most famous are Roxanne and Message in a Bottle; while Russians remains the song forever associated with him a full 20 years after its release in the thawing Cold War era.

Mr Camilleri said all the usual security facilities would be in place for the concert including stand by ambulances. Separate seating arrangements would also include a VIP circle. He said this is expected to be the largest concert organised by NnG Promotions following the Elton John and Eros Ramazzotti concerts.

The construction of the stage will be in the able hands of Sign It Ltd, Malta’s foremost organisers in terms of structure constructions and conference business.

Tourism and Culture Minister Francis Zammit Dimech said that NnG have established themselves as one of Malta’s leading organisers of large concerts that have served to put Malta on the events map. He said that it was important for such established artists as Sting to visit Malta as this would increase the reputation of Malta as a concert venue, which will hopefully lead to more large names coming to the island.
