Golden Harvest Mfg. Co. Ltd, Malta’s leading manufacturer of bakery, confectionery and ice cream products has been awarded the prestigious BRC Global Standard Food Certificate of Approval.

In awarding this quality Standard, BRC takes many important aspects into consideration.

Among other things, these include a quality manual defining all the procedures and policies that affect the quality and safety of the products manufactured, an effective quality system and good storage conditions.

Golden Harvest’s manufactured products, which are mainly bread buns, ice cream and frozen milk shakes were found to conform to all aspects of the BRC Global Standard – Food Issue 4, which is the latest and strictest standard.

The BRC Global Standard Audit prior to the Approval Certification verified that the following aspects, which are considered essential for the certification, are being implemented:

• A HACCP Plan, based upon the Codex Alimentarius Principles.

• The quality management system is in line with the BRC Global Standard – Food. This includes the policy statements, organisational charts, work instructions.

• Environmental standards, controls and systems.

• Product control: handling systems, sieves, filters, metal detectors, calibration of scales/instruments critical to product quality and inspection and analysis control points.

• Process control: verification, consistency, safe and legal products with the desired quality characteristics.
