Emirates SkyCargo Sets sights on South America

Malta Independent Tuesday, 16 May 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 19 years ago

In a strategic move to expand in markets across South America, beginning with Brazil, Emirates SkyCargo has appointed Scand Air Cargo as its cargo sales agent (CSA) in Sao Paulo. The appointment, timed to coincide with Emirates SkyCargo’s participation in Intermodal South America, South America’s largest trade show focused on the markets of foreign trade, logistics and transport, will maximise the carrier’s ability to service the region.

By appointing a CSA, Emirates SkyCargo hopes to offer a better service to its customers in South America and increase trade access to key markets including Japan, India, China, Thailand, Hong Kong, Australasia, South Africa and the Middle East.

With over 40,000 visitors, Intermodal South America generated exceptional exposure for Emirates SkyCargo in Brazil and neighbouring markets.

Brazil’s key export partners include the US, Argentina, the UK, China, Germany and Mexico. Air freight commodities exported from Brazil include automobile parts, air conditioner parts, leather and fruit. Air freight imports to Brazil include machinery and electronic components.

Emirates SkyCargo, represented in Malta by Cassar & Cooper Ltd, currently serves 83 destinations in 57 countries.

Emirates flies from Malta to Dubai four times weekly via Larnaca, Cyprus. The Airbus A330-200 used on the Malta route has a freight capacity of 13 tons each way.
