Malta Independent Wednesday, 17 May 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

Kellogg’s, the world’s largest breakfast producer and leading provider of convenience foods, is celebrating 100 years with innovative campaigns around the globe including Malta.

A special event will be held in Malta to celebrate the 100 years of “bringing its best” to consumers. A Kellogg’s vintage truck will be touring several localities between Thursday 25 and Sunday 28 May and offering passer-bys a free breakfast of Kellogg’s Corn Flakes – the first cereal product launched in 1906.

Kellogg Company was formed when production of Kellogg’s Corn Flakes began at W.K. Kellogg’s newly formed Battle Creek Toasted Corn Flakes Company in 1906. With Kellogg’s Corn Flakes and its commitment to innovation, the company has grown into a diverse food company. The ready-to-eat cereal innovation has changed the way people eat breakfast worldwide. They provide energy and essential nutrients for healthy growth and are easy to prepare – something that all ages can enjoy.

Today, Kellogg products are manufactured in 17 countries and marketed in more than 180 countries around the world.

Throughout the century, Kellogg’s has continued to introduce new cereals and today’s most loved cereals include Kellogg’s Corn Pops, Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes, Kellogg’s Honey Smacks, Kellogg’s Cocoa Krispies and Kellogg’s Special K, which was the first high-protein breakfast cereal ever offered to consumers. The Kellogg Company continued to offer new products on the market underlying the importance of grain in the diet and introduced the Kellogg’s All-Bran.

“Kellogg’s will continue to provide consumers with the great tasting, high-quality foods and programmes that help promote health and well-being. Our campaign in Malta will generate further awareness about the importance of starting the day with a nutritious breakfast and to help Maltese communities and families develop healthy eating habits,” said a spokesperson from Kellogg’s in Malta.

The campaign of Kellogg’s 100th Anniversary will kick off on 25 May. Kellogg’s representatives will be on the vintage truck offering free bowls of Kellogg’s Corn Flakes cereal to passer-bys.

Kellogg’s vintage truck will be visiting communities in Zurrieq, Hal Far Industrial Estate, Birzebbuga, Marsascala and Zabbar. On the following day, the Kellogg’s mobile crew will be at the Birkirkara flea market, in Paola and Fgura.

On Saturday 27 the Kellogg’s vintage truck will be stationed at Cottonera Sports Complex during the Skolasport Manifestation Day, an event also sponsored by Kellogg’s for the past seven years. In the afternoon, it will tour St Paul’s Bay, Bugibba and Mellieha. On Sunday 28 May, the Kellogg’s vintage truck will be at Valletta flea market and then tours to Rabat, Ta’ Qali, Mosta and Naxxar in the afternoon.
