HSBC Wealth Management has joined the long list of individuals and organisations who, over the past 40 years, have helped turn the dream of establishing and running Dar tal-Providenza in to a reality.
The donation was presented by HSBC’s Wealth Management Office officials Mr Rudolph Rossignaud and Mr Geoffrey Decelis, to the Director of Dar tal-Providenza, Mgr Lawrence Gatt.
Dar tal-Providenza was born on 12 September 1965, when Monsignor Michael Azzopardi, decided it was time for action.
During a live radio programme he became the first person to publicly suggest that a home should be opened to care for those with physical and intellectual disabilities.
This was to be done not just for the benefit of those being cared for but also to relieve their families.
“Over 40 years Dar tal-Providenza has grown beyond recognition. It is now the leading provider of residential care for people with physical and intellectual disabilities.
“To continue functioning it needs a lot of financial support and HSBC Wealth Management is delighted to be able to make a contribution towards ensuring that those who are vulnerable in our society are given the care they deserve,” said HSBC officials during the presentation of the donation to Mgr Gatt.
