Oil Tanking Malta Ltd presented more than Lm 4,000 in books to various schools in Birzebbuga and books for professional development of teachers who form part of the staff of St Benedict’s College, the Education Ministry said yesterday.

Oil Tanking Malta Director Sonke Stein said that the company immediately decided that this was an opportunity to make a contribution to the community’s social life and expressed pleasure in helping the development of the children and youths of Birzebbuga as this would help Malta grow within the European Union.

Education, Youth and Employment Minister Louis Galea spoke about the importance of networking between schools and of further benefits that this creates for children. He said that after pilot projects in Gozo, Cottonera and St Benedict’s College, benefits and positive experiences were already being felt.

Minister Galea said that such initiatives demonstrate a company’s corporate social responsibility and thanked Oil Tanking Malta Ltd for their generous gesture.
