To continue creating work and to guarantee social justice in Malta, the rate of growth of taxation should could not continue to be higher than the rate of economic growth, Labour Leader Dr Alfred Sant told a delegation from the Union Haddiema Maghqudin.
Dr Sant said the Labour Party had prepared a plan for industry because it believed that this sector was very important for the country’s economy. He said that Labour wants the country to begin focusing on important sectors, adding that consultation was important if the final aims were to be achieved.
The Labour Party said that UHM secretary general Gejtu Vella told Dr Sant that the union also believed that the country needed a strategic plan not only for industry, but for other sectors as well.
Mr Vella was quoted as saying that instead of producing reports, decisions had to start being taken.
