Malta Independent Saturday, 27 May 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

St James Cavalier in Valletta will once again be the venue for the latest production by Vinny Vella: “The Latin Gig”

This promises to be an enjoyable journey of rhythms, songs and sounds to emerge from South America these last one hundred years. Pianist Vinny Vella has always had a passion for jazz, but has also been an avid fan of Latin American music. This concert has been on his mind for a few years now, and is glad that it is finally being performed.

Vinny will be joined once again by Joe Micallef on drums and percussion, Joe Vella on bass, Walter Vella who also forms part of the popular group ‘Etnika” on Flute and saxophones and leading vocalist Claudette Pace.

Vinny’s past productions namely “The Beatles Works” and last year’s “A Groovy Kind Of Pop” were a huge success. In fact “The Beatles Works” was performed again the following year due to popular demand.

Lovers of the Rumba, Cha Cha, the Bossa Nova and the ever popular Samba are in for a treat at “The Latin Gig”

“The Latin Gig” will be held on Saturday and Sunday at 8.30pm.
