A foreign national was taken to hospital in a critical condition yesterday after he fell down a shaft on a building site.

It is understood that the man was working on a construction site in Manuel Dimech Street, Qormi, when he lost his balance and plummeted down a shaft, according to a police report.

A paramedic crew was dispatched to the scene and rushed the man to St Luke’s Casualty Department where doctors certified that he was in a critical condition. Duty magistrate Giovanni Grixti appointed a number of experts to help him with his inquiry.
