Glormu Cassar Avenue To be resurfaced

Malta Independent Friday, 2 June 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

The Malta Transport Authority (ADT) said that Glormu Cassar Avenue in Valletta will be resurfaced during the weekend, weather permitting, since work previously carried out did not meet the standards required by the ADT. These works will be carried out at the contractor’s expense. Resurfacing works will also be carried out on part of the roundabout junction near the War Memorial Monument, which was not included in the original footprint of the project.

The following traffic management scheme is being implemented for the duration of the works:

Today, from 10am, scarifying works will be carried out along the road. To this end, the road will be partially closed to vehicular traffic but access will remain unaffected.

From 7pm today June until Sunday, the road will be completely closed to traffic. Consequently, vehicular traffic from Blata l-Bajda and Pieta’ will be diverted to Ta’ Sarrija and Great Siege Road (down towards Excelsior Hotel).

Traffic leaving Valletta will exit through the road in front of the Mediterranean Conference Centre and will proceed either towards Lascaris Wharf, Crucifix Hill (Sir Paul Boffa Hospital area), Capuchin Street and onto St Anne Street or towards Great Siege Road (Excelsior Hotel) and Sa Maison Road.

Public Transport in the direction towards Valletta will commute through Ta’ Sarrija. Public Transport exiting Valletta and vehicles exiting the MCP car park will be directed towards the War Memorial Roundabout.

The normal traffic arrangements will be back in place as from Monday.
