Work has started on the installation of a new artificial pitch at San Lawrenz in Gozo. The project is financed by the local council in collaboration with St Laurence Spurs FC and the Dun Salv Portelli Primary School.

Work on the pitch is being carried out by a group of workers from Joseph Sammut Ltd together with two workers from Finland who came to Malta to instruct local workers on the installation of such pitches.

When completed, football, basketball and volleyball games will be played on it, mayor Noel Formosa said in a statement. During this week, the wooden fence is being installed while the artificial turf will be laid in the coming weeks.
