Quitting smoking is not easy and studies show that few smokers can kick their habit without healthcare assistance. To make this task slightly easier for smokers, GSK Consumer Healthcare, the suppliers of Niquitin CQ which is one of the international brands of Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT), has supported committed quitters to stop smoking through the Quit & Win challenge. For the seventh consecutive time, the Health Promotion Department has organised the international Quit & Win competition on a local level.
“At GSK Consumer Healthcare division, we have offered our help to encourage smokers to quit. All participants have definitely won their health back and some of them have also won an attractive prize,” said Monica Abdilla, country manager for GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare in Malta, when presenting the prize.
The participants in this year’s challenge quit smoking by 2 May and had to refrain from smoking for a four week period which ended on 29 May. The aim of the competition, which was organised for the first time back in 1994, is to encourage the public to quit smoking and as a result, be eligible to participate in a competition with prizes sponsored this year by GSK Consumer Healthcare, among others. GSK Consumer Healthcare has rewarded Emanuel Borg Caruana with a Philips home theatre system as a reward for his success in quitting smoking.
