Blush: A Charming rosé from Camilleri Wines

Malta Independent Monday, 12 June 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

Camilleri Wines has launched Blush – a rosé wine which is made from a blend of locally-grown Merlot and Syrah grapes.

Blush is Camilleri Wines’ eleventh fully-grown Maltese wine and was launched on board the Blush Boat berthed at Valletta Waterfront during the International Wine Festival.

Camilleri Wines general manager Louie Camilleri explained that Blush is a wine that continues to support the direction of the Company’s identity and placing in the local market.

He said: “Blush is another quality product that takes our company forward in the way we grow our grapes, produce our wine and finally market it. Since we have taken the decision to produce wines that are exclusively made from grapes grown and harvested in Malta, we have been able to distinguish ourselves even further in the market.

“Our strategic direction as a winery is very clear, whereby we are producing wines that will cater for a diverse public with a strong focus on the quality of the wine and its packaging. Blush has gone through this process and we now look forward to having this rosé in the market,” he continued.

Commenting on the new wine, Camilleri Wines' wine advisor Josef Bonello said: “Blush Rosé offers a rather different sensation to several other rosés available locally. Produced from Merlot and Syrah grapes entirely grown and harvested in Malta, this wine shows a ripe fruitiness of fresh strawberries supported by a refreshing acidity and a dry palate, making it ideal with a very wide variety of food dishes such as salads, chicken, fish and all kinds of pasta and pizza, and also makes a very delightful drink on its own.”

Sales and marketing head Claudio Camilleri said: “With Blush, we want wine drinkers to appreciate the fact that rosé wine is not a secondary wine – a popular but incorrect notion that we seek to contest with this

latest addition to our portfolio of wines. Rosé has so much potential because its properties are an ideal option to Maltese wine lovers who are looking for something refreshing to suit our hot

climate.

“Through Blush, Camilleri Wines is also proposing an image that demonstrates a fresh and contemporary look, that appeals to a market that wants to feel lavish and extravagant – a feeling that each one of us enjoys,” he concluded.
