Francesca Grima and Andrej Vujicic in a flamenco show at Grand Harbour
Following up last year’s outstanding success of the Puerto Flamenco spectacle at the Valletta Waterfront, as well as successful touring around Europe and Spain, this summer brings us a premiere of the new and enhanced version of the acclaimed show to take place on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 July 2006 at an attractive new location in the Grand Harbour, Valletta.
Francesca Grima and Andrej Vujicic dare to raise the bar higher in a heartfelt attempt at bringing only the premier quality authentic flamenco from the heart of Seville. This year’s spectacle features the addition of the legendary gypsy dancer – Carmelilla Montoya, one of flamenco’s most celebrated artists, world famous for her appearances with Camaron, Familia Montoya, Lole y Manuel, Los Tarantos, and this year’s Gitanas with the Farruco family. She will be joining the unique talents of gypsy dancer Amador Rojas, and Malta’s own Francesca Grima, as well as an enhanced musical backline. The over 1,000 strong crowd of mesmerised spectators at last year’s Grand Harbour production can vouch for the trademark ‘goose-flesh effect of the tidal waves of emotional energy...’ (Spancirfest, Croatia, Sep. 2005).
Puerto Flamenco productions are renowned for their jaw-dropping technique, dazzling choreography, spontaneous improvisation, and electrifying music. The production has been reaping international prominence with absolute sellout performances at the Spancir Fest Croatia, Belgrade’s Festival of Dom Omladine, Khamoro Festival in Prague, Sziget Festival Budapest, and Miercoles a Compas at Endanza, in Seville.
The open-air event will be taking place on Saturday 1 July and Sunday 2 July at 8.30pm at the beautiful setting of the Customs House, Valletta, with picturesque harbour views and an overall pleasant atmosphere. Tickets Lm7 from St James Cavalier or at the door.
