L’Oréal – UNESCO For Women in Science Awards 2007

The National Commission for the Promotion of Equality (NCPE) and the Maltese National Commission for UNESCO, has launched the nominations for L’Oréal – UNESCO Awards, “for Women in Science” dedicated to material sciences (physics and chemistry).

The goal of these awards is to improve the position of women working in the field of science, by acknowledging each year, five outstanding female researchers who have contributed to scientific progress.

Malta and other European countries will be presenting a number of nominees who will be considered for the attainment of these awards for Europe.

The NCPE is inviting the general public to submit nominations for persons who are perceived to be suitable to participate in this initiative by filling out forms, which are available on the website www.equality.gov.mt and returned by post by not later than Friday 23 June, addressed to:

The awards will be presented to the five chosen female scientists in March 2007, at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.
