Bay Street To operate Outwest Argentinian Steakhouse

Malta Independent Monday, 26 June 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

Bay Street’s management together with celebrity Chef Martin Camilleri have taken over the management of Outwest Argentinian Steakhouse situated on level 2 of the Bay Street complex. Martin Camilleri brings with him a wealth of experience in the catering industry having operated his own restaurant and managed the kitchen department of a number of five-star hotels in Malta and Gozo.

The restaurant will continue to be positioned as a steakhouse, in fact the name will be retained. However the menu is being revamped in order to reflect the new operator’s vision of the restaurant. Together with the traditional steaks which the restaurant was renowned for, the restaurant will be offering a variety of other dishes including fish, kebabs and Mexican- and American-styled dishes. The chef has also created a number of mouthwatering starters, a vegetarian menu and a kids menu. Patrons at Outwest will also be offered free parking at the Bay Street car park.

Speaking about this new venture, Chef Martin Camilleri said that “this is a very exciting project, which although in keeping with my longstanding experience allows me to be more creative in the menu we offer. In a smaller restaurant, rather than a hotel, a chef can be more in contact with his patrons thereby understanding their individual requirements. In creating this new menu we kept our patrons’ culinary wishes in mind and today we are in a position to offer them a varied menu which is also good value for money.”

Commenting on the operational side, Bay Street’s Chief Executive Officer James Davis said that “we have decided to take over the operations of the Outwest Argentinean restaurant because of its goodwill and reputation in the market. However to do this we have partnered with one of the most experienced chef on the island who has over 35 years experience in the business.”

In line with the theme of the restaurant and to mark the opening of Outwest, the management of Bay Street welcomed at the complex a cowboy on horseback who with the help of a restaurant waitress, distributed leaflet to visitors at the complex.
