HSBC Sliema Area has contributed towards the publication Tifkira ta’ Grajjiet Ewlenin f’Tas-Sliema, published by Kummissjoni Festi tal-Parrocca, to coincide with the 125th anniversary of Sliema’s Sacro Cuor Parish Church.

This commemorative book, written by Winston L. Zammit, Fr Guzepp Vella OFM and Fr George Aquilina OFM, gives an overview of the main events that have contributed to Sliema’s history. Among these are the establishment of the parish church, the commissioning of the titular statue of the Madonna, and the arrival of the Franciscan Fathers in 1881.

“This publication will help foster a greater sense of belonging among parishioners. We are grateful to HSBC for the sponsorship which has been vital in getting this book published,” said Mr Stephen Buhagiar, President of the Kummissjoni Festi tal-Parrocca.

“HSBC is at the forefront of supporting Maltese culture. This particular publication is one way of contributing towards the popular Sliema parish feast,” said HSBC Sliema Area Director, Ms Lorna Farrugia.
