Court: Teenager Charged with attempted murder

An 18-year-old man was yesterday charged with the attempted murder of a man in Paceville on Friday night as well as attempting to seriously injure another three people.

Johann Montfort, 18, from Birkirkara, was charged with attempting to murder another 18-year-old from Birzebbuga after allegedly stabbing him with a sharp and pointed instrument. He was also accused of trying to seriously injure three other people during the fight that broke out at around 2am on Saturday morning in St George's Road in Paceville.

He was also charged with being in possession of a penknife without a licence issued by the police commissioner, assaulting the four men and breaching the peace.

Before Magistrate Giovanni Grixti, Mr Montfort pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him. He was refused bail and was remanded in custody.
