Bank of Valletta is supporting the first solo exhibition by local artist Keith Balzan. The exhibition, entitled ‘Genesis’, will be held at St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity in Valletta between 7 July and 15 August.

Maltese artist Keith Balzan specialises in Cubist and Expressionistic art and executes paintings with a wide range of media covering different genres. His art is a far cry from commercial paintings and forcefully reflects his mood, spontaneity and burning passion for the creative interpretation of everyday life. His paintings embark on journeys and change drastically until they reach completion.

Michael Galea, Head of PR, Communication & Corporate Branding at Bank of Valletta presented the Bank’s sponsorship during a visit to the artist’s studio where he had the opportunity to see the works of art that will feature during this exhibition. “We are delighted to support yet another Maltese artist who is venturing out on his first solo exhibition,” said Mr. Galea. “Indeed, Bank of Valletta has today positioned itself as the leading patron of arts and culture in Malta and we are actively involved in supporting local artists to promote their works. Maltese artists have a lot to offer and we are pleased to see an increasing number of artists who are taking the initiative and setting up exhibitions which give the opportunity to the public to appreciate the wealth of artistic talent that Malta has to offer,” concluded Mr Galea.

Thanking Bank of Valletta for its support, Keith Balzan explained how he has participated in various collective exhibitions since 1996. “Drawing has been a passion of mine for as long as I remember and my artistic expression is the result of many years spent experimenting with various media. The work is constantly evolving as I try new techniques and observe diverse artistic elements and statements from around the globe,” said Mr Balzan. “My inspiration comes from everyday life, people’s characters, their experiences, their joys, sorrows and moods which I attempt to portray and immortalise. Malta’s rich cultural heritage also acts as my muse and is becoming a recurring element in my works,” he added.

“This is an important step in my career when I am venturing out on my first solo exhibition. Entitled “Genesis”, this exhibition will feature a varied palette of styles including abstracts, portraits and landscapes,” concluded Mr Balzan.
