Spectacular Show for wheelchair dancers

Malta Independent Saturday, 1 July 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

The Malta Wheelchair DanceSport Association will be organising the third edition of The Malta Open Dance Spectacular 2006 on 25–26 November. The past two shows, which were held under the distinguished patronage of the President of Malta, Dr Edward Fenech-Adami and the President Emeritus Prof. Guido de Marco, were international successes, the second one attracting 13 countries from as far away as Brazil, America and Australia. Already we have confirmed booking from Australia, Germany, Norway, Poland, England, Holland, Russia and Slovakia. Calypso 1018 Radio will be attending the opening day to broadcast from the venue

The aims of the Dance Spectacular are:

• To give Maltese wheelchair dancers the opportunity to compete with foreign dancers without the expense of travelling abroad;

• To educate the general public and show the ability, rather than the disability, of wheelchair users;

• To integrate all dancers – whether non-disabled or disabled – in a competition atmosphere, as non-disabled Ballroom & Latin American competitions run side-by-side with Wheelchair Ballroom & Latin American competitions.
