The local introduction of a delightful new range of Gavi wines produced by the La Giustiniana winery in Piedmonte, Italy was held last Tuesday. The launch took the form of a wine tasting and was held at Etienne’s, a lovely little restaurant and wine bar located right in the old heart of Attard. In all, three Gavi’s and a delightful Grappa were launched on the night. Guests had the opportunity to sample the range of wines over light snacks.
The event was hosted by the Directors of Ferranti & Co, local agents for a number of top end international wines from Spain, France, Chile and of course Italy among others. Etienne Borg Ferranti and his wife Daniela stated that they were very excited to be introducing such a premium range of Gavi’s to the local market and were hugely optimistic that the range would be a hit.
Dr Enrico Tomalino, Director of La Giustiniana was on hand for the event. Dr Tomalino walked guests through a brief history of La Giustiniana, one of the oldest wineries in Italy dateing back to approximately 1000 AD. He said that it was during the 1600s that the Giustiniana family opened a cellar underneath their villa in the Gavi region. The quality of the land and the optimal climate in this area are ideal for the cultivation of the finest grapes. All the Italian passion and dedication for wines makes this brand one of the best Gavi’s available.
Dr Tomalino and Mr Borg Ferranti then proceeded to launch three wines on the night. These were the Gavi Lugarara, Gavi Montessora and the Gavi Nostro. Each of these wines is produced in two selected vineyards in Roverto di Gavi, Piedmont. All three are accompanied by a quality signature – D.O.C.G. – meaning “Denominazione di origine controllata” a mark of quality. The night was capped off with the launch of Grappa Di Gavi which is also produced by La Giustiniana.
