Malta Council For Culture and the Arts appoints art executives

Malta Independent Monday, 10 July 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

Malta Council for Culture and the Arts is undergoing complete restructuring, changing the council’s role from organising cultural events to promoting and creating new cultural concepts and products.

This will provide Malta with high calibre, quality projects and events while improving the inflow of cultural tourists especially during the lean tourism season.

Tourism and Culture Minister Francis Zammit Dimech and Permanent Secretary Peter Portelli are backing the council’s decision.

The council’s new staff is made up of executive director Dr Paul V. Mifsud and Mary Ann Cauchi, Mario Frendo, Davinia Galea and Kate Wiberg.

Chairman of the council Hans Cauchi is directing the changeover, helped by Vice-Chairman Josef Camilleri, and council members Sir Cameron Mackintosh, Reverend Professor Peter Serracino Inglott, Francesca Balzan, Isabelle Gatt, George Glanville, Philip Ciantar and Kevin Sciberras.
