More Than just a concert

Malta Independent Monday, 10 July 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

Roger Waters takes to the stage tonight in what promises to be more than just a concert but a true spectacle of unparalleled sound, lights and projections and on-stage pyrotechnics.

Speaking to The Malta Independent yesterday, NnG’s Anton Attard said the set-up guaranteed maximum enjoyment for everyone attending the concert.

He said the 360-degree quadraphonic surround sound system provided the same quality of sound to concert-goers irrespective of where they were standing in relation to the stage.

The sound system being set up will ensure that “it will be like you are sitting in your living room with a surround sound system,” he said.

Mr Attard emphasised that this was not another concert but a “musical and visual extravaganza of the highest quality… this is a spectacle not to be missed.”

Today’s event will consist of two sets with a 15-minute break in between. While the first hour and a quarter set will be a mixture of the best of Pink Floyd from albums such as The Wall, Animals and Wish You Were Here, a couple Roger Waters solo tracks are also being thrown in for good measure.

The second 45-minute set, meanwhile, will be a full rendition of the Pink Floyd classic album Dark Side of the Moon. Five encore tracks have also been selected, which will extend the concert by another 20 minutes.

The organisers have appealed to the public to be punctual after the interval as Roger Waters is known to be fastidious about sticking to his schedule.
