A Victory in Europe Day 60th anniversary musical was recently held at the Pope John Paul II parish hall in Attard, by The Lions Club La Valletta, in collaboration with Happy Faces from the Children’s Charity in North Wales.

The show, which was held on two consecutive nights, featured an all-star cast which was flown over from the UK. While 1940s costumes were used, the audience was entertained with songs that won the war, including those by Vera Lynn, The Andrews Sisters, George Formby, Flanagan and Allan.

In the UK, the performance raised a total of £40,000 and all the funds were donated to the Children’s Charity in North Wales.

This same charity will also benefit from the funds collected in Malta, while a local beneficiary will be the Malta Wireless and Talking Books for the Blind Foundation. A total of Lm800 was collected during the event.
