A British man was yesterday conditionally discharged for one year after pleading guilty to violently resisting and assaulting five policemen in Mellieha during the night of 12 and 13 July.
Robert Brown, 24, from Hampshire, also pleaded guilty to disobeying police orders. Prosecuting officer Therese Sciberras informed the court that the accused was drunk when he committed the crimes.
Handing down his judgement, magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna considered that the accused filed a guilty plea at a very early stage and that he was leaving the island on Tuesday. He conditionally discharged him for a year.
Dr Patrick Valentino assisted the accused as legal aid.
