“Project Libya”, the Infrastructure and Energy Exhibition and Forum to be held in Tripoli Libya between 4 and 7 December, was launched in Malta recently during the conference – “Succeeding in Libya – strategies for new business opportunities”, held at the Corinthia San Gorg Hotel.

Abdul Nasser Nagel, chairman of Sahara Expo Libya gave a presentation on the event, which is considered to be the largest specialist exhibition ever to be held in Libya.

The exhibitions, which are being organised by Montgomery Group of London and Sahara Expo Libya of Tripoli are being held under the patronage of Dr Aisha Muammar Al-Qathafi, General Secretary of the Wa’atassemo Foundation.

The shows will cover an area of over 6000 sq. metres net and will include over 500 exhibitors together with a standalone US Exhibit that will house over 100 exhibitors from the energy sector.

The US Commercial Services of the US Department of Commerce has granted Project Libya its Trade Fair Certification status. This certification assures US Commercial Service support in Libya.

Project Libya will be a unique international showcase for Libya’s Infrastructure and Energy Sectors. The show will address Libya’s immediate priorities in terms of technological needs for the country’s national planning and future progress.

The reason why Project Libya was also launched in Malta after its launch in Tripoli last January, is because Malta and Libya are more close than anybody can imagine, not only historically and geographically but even in business mentality.

That is the reason, explained Mr Nasser Nageh why all the contractual and design works have been assigned to the Casapinta Group. Travel arrangements and printing requirements will also be sourced from Malta.

The majority of Maltese delegates will be staying at the Corinthia Bab Africa to complete the Maltese flavour of the event.

The organisers, therefore, look forward to recruiting as many Maltese companies as possible to participate in this unique event, and together with participants from all over the globe will partake of the new opportunities being offered by Libya’s huge and challenging programme of economic development that includes the expansion, upgrading and modernisation of its vital infrastructure together with the vast and significant investment being made in the oil, gas and energy sectors – the key to Libya’s economic progress.
