Entertainment: ‘Ballet D’Europe’

The Dance Council will be presenting Ballet d’Europe at the Malta Arts Festival – Summer 2006. Two varied performances under the artistic direction of Jean Charles Gil will take place at the Royal Opera House site in Valletta.

Mireille will be performed on Friday 4 August and Mozart’s Requiem on Saturday 5 August, both at 9pm.

In addition, Jean Charles Gil will be presenting a choreographic piece for Maltese dancers selected from local dance schools entitled MA to mark the first collaboration between Marseille, the home of Ballet d’Europe and Malta.

Ballet d’Europe is an EU-funded company and consists of 18 dancers hailing from various countries. It is also a specialised laboratory where dance is developed and dancers are trained professionally.

The Malta Arts Festival – Summer 2006 is being organised by the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts and sponsored by HSBC Bank Malta plc, the Valletta Local Council, Bank of Valletta plc and the Westin Dragonara Resort.

The Dance Council is being sponsored by Le Meridien Phoenicia, Osborne Caterers, the French Embassy and the Ministry for Tourism and Culture.
