Malta Independent Monday, 7 August 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 19 years ago

HSBC Cares For Children Fund is for the third year running sponsoring the annual summer club for the children and grandchildren of cancer patients, organised by the Malta Hospice Movement.

The summer club which is run by trained volunteers offers families respite from the responsibilities of caring for relatives suffering from cancer by providing twice weekly outings throughout the summer months. It will also help ease the children's hardships through outings that will include cultural visits, swimming in various beaches and private pools, and visits to fun parks.

“The positive feedback we get from the children and their parents shows that the Summer Club has enabled Hospice to achieve its aim and that it has become a useful and important part of the package of family care that the Malta Hospice Movement offers. We are grateful to the HSBC Cares For Children Fund for its generous contribution” said Gloria Spiteri, social worker at the Malta Hospice Movement.

“The children and their families go through so much psychological hardship. HSBC's small contribution will go towards supporting Hospice in alleviating some of this hardship,” said Josef Camilleri, Director, HSBC Cares For Children Fund.

Donations from the public to assist the Malta Hospice Movement are welcome. These may be deposited in the HSBC Cares For Children Fund account number 033 152695 052.
