A photographic exhibition with the theme “Into My Imagination” by Joe Camilleri is being held as part of Malta Arts Festival – Summer 2006, at St James Cavalier, Valletta. This exhibition opened last Friday, and will be running throughout the festival dates and extended to 4 September.

Joe Camilleri, a veteran and trend-setter in the field of photography, has won numerous gold, silver and bronze trophies. For this occasion, marking his seventh personal exhibition, he will be presenting 100 of his best photographs in the upper halls of St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity.

Joe Camilleri was always intrigued by photography but did not take it seriously up to 1982, on his retirement. In 1995 the French Photographic Organisation, “Image Sans Frontier (ISF)”, and being himself a founder member, appointed him Country Representative for Malta and later awarded him the distinction AISF, in recognition of his promotion of the organisation.

His “Blue Setting” and “Circuit Breaker” made him “a trend setter” in the international field of photography. He has practiced solely in traditional photography despite the fact that a large percentage of his work may give the impression that Joe Camilleri practices digital photography. His work has baffled experienced judges and influenced many photographers competing in the international circuits.

Joe Camilleri’s best stills have been published in various international photographic annuals and journals. His works and his influence can easily be discerned amongst the winning entries of many international photographic competitions. His name today strikes a chord of recognition in the international arena of photography.

Entrance to this interesting exhibition is free. For more information about the Malta Arts Festival – Summer 2006, one may call on the hotline 9999 0145, or visit website: www.maltaculture.com
