An Algerian man who lives in Malta was yesterday charged with defiling a 15-year-old boy who he met over the internet.
Lanouar Bounab, 37, was charged with defiling the Maltese teenager on Monday evening.
Police inspector Louise Calleja told magistrate Lawrence Quintano that the boy told police that whatever happened between him and Mr Bounab happened with his consent and that he had not been forced to do anything.
The teenager told police that he met Mr Bounab over the internet and accepted his invitation to go to his house on Monday evening. When he went back home his mother noticed that something was wrong and informed the police.
Mr Bounab’s request for bail was turned down by magistrate Quintano who said that the teenager had to be protected.
Police inspectors Louise Calleja and Pierre Micallef Grimaud prosecuted while Dr Martin Fenech appeared for the man.
