The Malta Transport Authority notifies that it has made the necessary arrangements for all used vehicles imported from Japan and Singapore to be furnished with an odometer certificate issued from the place of origin by the Japan Export Vehicle Inspection Centre Co. Ltd (JEVIC Ltd). This applies to all used vehicles shipped to Malta after 17 March.

The ADT has commissioned JEVIC Ltd to carry out inspections on every vehicle, prior to its exportation to Malta, to determine the exact mileage of the vehicle.

The introduction of this new certification system is intended to curb abuse and will provide persons buying used vehicles from the Far East with evidence that the engine was not tampered, mileage-wise.

The ADT is urging clients who purchase used vehicles from Japan and Singapore to ask for the odometer certificate at the time of purchase.
